Lindenwood University Online MHA & MS in Health Sciences
Lindenwood University offers a 100 percent online master of health administration (MHA) program and a master of science in health sciences (MSHS) program. No campus visits or practicum experiences are required, although an optional internship is available for the MHA program. In addition, no work experience or GMAT/GRE is required.
The online MHA curriculum is founded on Recommendations from the Accrediting Commission on Education for Health Services Administration. In addition, the program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
Program outcomes focus on understanding healthcare law in the management sector, strategic planning, healthcare organizational management, and ethical problem-solving and decision-making. Graduates may go on to positions such as nursing home administrator, hospital administrator, medical services manager, and health services manager.
The online MHA can be completed in 14 to 24 months with both full-time and part-time study options. The 36 credits are spread over 12 courses that last eight weeks each. Some students may need to take up to three foundational courses if they were not completed with a grade of B or higher in the undergraduate degree. These include two academic and professional writing courses and a statistics course. Accepted students may transfer in up to nine credits.
The online MS in health sciences in fitness and wellness is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) for its applied and research curriculum elements. Program outcomes focus on health promotion, current legislation, worksite wellness programming, data analysis, research interpretation, and evidence-based decision-making. Graduates may pursue careers as wellness directors, fitness managers, or health educators. The online MSHS can be completed in 24 months and includes both a thesis and non-thesis pathway, plus a comprehensive exam. The online option is designed with a fitness and wellness track. The 33 credits include four core courses and five to six health sciences courses in the fitness and wellness arena. Accepted students may also transfer up to nine credits to this program.

What to Expect from the Lindenwood University Online MHA & MS in Health Sciences
Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MHA and MSHS programs must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. No GMAT or GRE or work experience is required.
Students complete an online application and submit official transcripts, a current resume, a letter of intent, and a personal statement explaining their interest in the program and career goals.
Study Plan: The Lindenwood University online MHA consists of 12 courses, which last eight weeks each. Full-time students can complete the program in 14 months with a part-time duration of 24 months. Certain students may need to take three foundational courses, increasing the completion time. In addition, MHA students may choose to complete an optional internship to gain valuable, hands-on experience.
The online MSHS in fitness and wellness can be completed in 24 months on a part-time basis. This is the minimum time to completion. Students have up to six years to complete the programs and may transfer in up to nine credits. No campus visits or practicum experiences are required for either program.
Start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. Students should speak with an admissions counselor to determine the best time to begin.
MHA Curriculum: The Lindenwood University MHA consists of 36 credits over 12 courses which may include human resources in healthcare; issues in public health care administration; administration of healthcare law and case study analysis; healthcare analytics; research methods in healthcare; medical records, ethics, and the law of health information; quality improvement and management in healthcare organizations; strategic management and marketing in healthcare organizations; healthcare finance and accounting; economics of health and medical care; digital medicine and healthcare information systems; and healthcare administration capstone.
Foundation courses include academic and professional writing for business students I-II, and one of the following: statistics and quantitative analysis; basic statistics; and statistics for natural sciences. Foundation courses may need to be completed by some students.
An optional internship is also available to MHA students to gain real-world experience.
MS in Health Sciences Curriculum: The Lindenwood University MS in health sciences with a specialization in fitness and wellness consists of 33 to 36 credits depending on the completion of a thesis or non-thesis option. Required courses include research methods; community health; statistical analysis; and up to six credits of independent study.
Students in the thesis route take 15 hours of electives plus a thesis course and a comprehensive exam. Students in the non-thesis route take 18 credits of electives plus the comprehensive exam. Electives should come from the fitness and wellness arena including courses in human resource management, entrepreneurial studies, health sciences, management, and nonprofit administration.
Online Experience: Lindenwood University utilizes Canvas as its online Learning Management System (LMS). Courses may include recorded lectures, live web conferencing, online discussion boards, assignments, and assessments. Student and Academic Support Services (SASS) is committed to helping students engage academically, resolve problems, and utilize resources.
Each student has access to a Lion Life Coach who can help with time management, learning strategies, study habits, goal-setting, and preparation for exams. Lindenwood University students also have access to financial aid counselors, faculty support, career counseling, tutoring, an online library and bookstore, and technical support.
On-Site Requirements: The Lindenwood University online MHA and MSHS are 100 percent online with no campus visits or practicum experiences required. An optional internship is available to MHA students to gain real-world experience.
