The nursing education online MSN prepares nurses to develop curriculum, assessment tools, and teaching strategies to educate future nurses. Work settings may include hospitals, clinics, and institutions of higher education.

Start dates for the online MSN land in the fall, spring, and summer. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their BSN and maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the MSN program. Applicants must have at least one year of clinical work experience and be currently employed. The GRE is not required.

Graduates of the Spring Hill College online MSN may go on to positions such as clinical nurse manager, chief nursing officer, nurse educator, nursing instructor, health services manager, or clinical administrator, depending on their specialization.

Spring Hill College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC). The college is seeking accreditation for the online MSN through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and is located in Mobile, Alabama.

Admission Requirements: Interested nurses must hold a BSN with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The GRE is not required. Applicants must have at least one year of clinical work experience and currently be employed in a clinical setting.

Study Plan: Spring Hill College MSN students can complete the online MSN in 12 months (or more) with transfer credits and full-time enrollment. The degree must be completed within six years, and students may follow a full-time or part-time plan. Courses run twice per semester, and start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. The program includes 100 percent online coursework with local practicums. No campus visits are required.

Online MSN Curriculum: The Spring Hill College online MSN comprises 36 credits, including nine credits of concentration courses. Core courses for all concentrations may include advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, and assessment; ethics in healthcare; applied research and evidence-based practice; health policy; informatics and healthcare; and advanced statistics for healthcare.

Executive leadership specialization courses currently include theoretical foundations of leadership; organizational behavior; quality and safety in the healthcare environment; finance for healthcare leaders; administration and healthcare organization; and practicum – project development. Nurse executives complete 315 clinical practicum hours.

Nursing education specialization courses currently include theoretical educational foundations of nursing education; course development; curriculum development; teaching strategies; testing and evaluation strategies; and practicum for nurse educators. NEs complete 315 clinical practicum hours.

Online Experience: Spring Hill College delivers online MSN courses through the Canvas online learning management system (LMS). New students may participate in an online orientation. Nursing courses are designed to be engaging and interactive and may include discussion forums, online chats, and other communication platforms.

Faculty are dedicated to student success and well-being and provide a caring, supportive online environment. Class sizes are small, and students have access to an alumni network, dedicated faculty support, technical support, academic advising, career counseling, library and bookstore services, and financial aid services.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the Spring Hill College online MSN is 100 percent online. Students complete local clinical practicums.
