Eligibility for GRE/GMAT waivers are listed below. To apply to waive the GRE/GMAT requirement, applicants must contact the program director at [testwaiverrequest at siue.edu] to request the waiver. The decision to grant the GMAT/GRE waiver rests with the program director and School of Business MBA admissions committee.

  • Applicants should have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (4.0 scale) in undergraduate coursework.
  • Applicants should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) in any graduate coursework that is complete.
  • A GMAT/GRE waiver may be available, upon review of application materials, to applicants with an undergraduate/graduate degree cumulative GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale).
  • Current resume demonstrating post-bachelor’s degree professional work experience.

Admission is selective; the program, at its discretion, may request GRE or GMAT test scores, other supporting documents, or interviews that demonstrate the applicant’s ability to successfully pursue a Master of Business Administration degree.

Program application materials may be uploaded during the application process, but official transcripts must be sent directly from the school attended, and test scores must be verifiable with the appropriate testing service. Admission to the MBA program is based on a variety of factors including undergraduate GPA, overall score on the GMAT and its parts (verbal, quantitative and analytical writing), and previous work in other graduate programs. At least two years of work experience is recommended for students entering the MBA program. Students recently admitted to the MBA program have had, on average, a cumulative undergraduate GPA (UGPA) of 3.2 (A = 4.0) and an overall GMAT score of approximately 520.

Students who were not admitted may appeal. These appeals are handled by the MBA program director. Students seeking an exception are required to provide the program director with evidence supporting the reason such an exception should be granted. The program director’s decision regarding the appeal is final.

Note: Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in their MBA courses. Students who fall below this minimum will be placed on academic probation and referred to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. If the student is permitted to continue in the program, the conditions for continuance will be put in writing and communicated to the student. Study Plan: The SIUE online healthcare MBA begins twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. Courses last seven weeks each, and the program can be completed in as few as 12 months. Students take 24 credits of core MBA courses and 12 credits of healthcare administration electives.

Curriculum: The online SIUE healthcare MBA comprises 36 credits and includes four healthcare administration electives. Core courses include decision-making in organizations; information systems and technology; accounting for mbas; corporate finance; managerial economics; quantitative analysis; marketing analysis and applications for managerial decision-making; and strategic management.

Healthcare administration students then choose four of the following five electives: health economics and policy; customer relationship management; managing organizational change and innovation; health care financing; and topics in healthcare.

Online Experience: The online MBA program is structured so that students take one or more courses at a time in seven-week increments. Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, delivers courses through the Blackboard online learning management system (LMS). An online student orientation includes information about CougarNet, Blackboard, Zoom, and student ID and password.

Students can access academic advising, technical support through Information Technology Services (ITS), online tutoring through the Tutoring Resource Center, the writing center, library services, and counseling services.

Additionally, a variety of planning and preparation tools are available at SIUE Online, including an online readiness survey and necessary skills for online learning, including time management, organization, learning preferences, study skills, and technological proficiency.
