The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Monfort College of Business offers a fully online master of business administration (MBA) in healthcare administration that can be completed in as few as 12 months. No campus visits are required.

Program outcomes center on the fundamentals of business management, global enterprise management, solution-driven problem-solving, and ethical leadership and decision-making.

The UNC online Healthcare MBA begins with three foundation modules that cover finance, accounting, and economics. These are free, graded on a pass-fail basis, and can be completed simultaneously with the first MBA course.

What to Expect from the UNC Online MBA in Healthcare Administration

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. No GMAT is required for those with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. No work experience is required for applicants with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

For those with a 2.75 to 2.99 GPA, three years of work experience are required, and those with a 2.5 to 2.74 GPA must have six years of work experience. Applicants with a GPA less than 2.5 will be evaluated individually.

Study Plan: Online MBA courses last seven weeks each, and start dates land six times yearly for added flexibility–twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. No campus visits are required. Students complete three foundational courses free of charge before or during their first MBA course. A Strategic Management capstone course is included in the program.

Curriculum: The MBA in healthcare administration comprises 36 credits. Foundational modules cover economics, accounting, and finance and are graded on a pass-fail basis.

Core courses include ethical leadership and organizational behavior; managerial accounting; data analytics and visualization; economics of managerial decisions; advanced international business; marketing management; advanced supply chain management; advanced financial management; and strategic management.

Healthcare administration concentration courses include healthcare systems, healthcare by the numbers, and managing qualitative issues in healthcare organizations.

Online Experience: UNC delivers courses through the Blackboard learning management system (LMS). Courses are typically asynchronous, with recorded lectures, discussion boards, online chats, assignments, projects, and assessments.

The Office of Extended Learning (OEL) oversees distance learning and has a wealth of resources and expert staff to assist online learners. Online students can access the library, admissions counseling, academic counseling, tutoring services, faculty office hours, career counseling, and technical support.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the UNC online MBA in healthcare administration is 100 percent online.
