Students may complete the MBA in just one year with accelerated eight-week courses. No internships, residencies, or campus visits are required. Additionally, students may transfer up to nine graduate credits toward the program upon admission approval.

Admission Requirements: Applicants to the online MBA in healthcare administration program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Those with a GPA of 2.5 to 2.74 will be admitted on a conditional basis. A master’s degree with a 3.0 minimum GPA is also acceptable.
Those with a business-related bachelor’s degree in accounting, management, marketing, economics, computer information systems, business, or finance do not need to take the foundations of business course. As well, recipients of other undergraduate business-related degrees may be eligible to waive this course.
Application materials submitted to the School of Graduate Studies include official transcripts, a statement of interest, a resume, and two professional recommendations. Proof of English language proficiency may be required. The application may include an application fee.

Study Plan: The University of West Alabama online MBA in healthcare administration comprises a minimum of 33 credits. Courses last eight weeks each and the MBA can be earned in just one year. Start dates land in the first term of each semester in the fall, spring, and summer. Courses are three credits each with the exception of the thesis course which is six credits. The healthcare project course may be repeated for a total of six credits.
In order to graduate, students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA with no more than two Cs earned throughout the program, and successfully complete a comprehensive exam in their last semester.

Online MBA – Healthcare Administration Curriculum: The University of West Alabama MBA comprises a minimum of 33 credits. Core courses include the foundations of business; research methods and design; managerial accounting; comparative business law and ethics; emerging technologies; marketing management; strategic management and business policy; research methods and design; managerial economics; and financial management.

Healthcare administration emphasis courses include at least nine credits from the following electives: issues in healthcare administration; healthcare law, ethics, and policy; healthcare information systems; the role of the healthcare administrator; healthcare economics and finance; healthcare systems, insurance, and managed care; healthcare management and professional behaviors in athletic training; healthcare economics and finance; healthcare project; and thesis. The healthcare project course may be repeated once.

Online Experience: UWA online MBA in healthcare administration courses are delivered through Blackboard Learn. The online course curriculum is accelerated, therefore students may choose to complete one course at a time. Each student is assigned a personal student success coach. Note that some courses may include synchronous activities; however, the majority of the curriculum is asynchronous for added flexibility.

Student services may include individual counseling, career counseling, writing center services, dedicated faculty office hours, library services, financial aid services, and technical support.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements as the online MBA in healthcare administration is 100 percent online.
