What to Expect from the Texas A&M International University Online Healthcare MBA

Admission Requirements: Applicants who hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited business school with an upper-level GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit the following will be automatically admitted: official transcripts, a resume, contact information for three references, and acceptable TOEFL/IELTS test scores if applicable. Those applicants who meet these requirements but do not hold a business degree will be reviewed by the ARSSB to determine which prep modules must be completed.

Applicants who do not meet the above requirements will require further review and must submit the following additionally: GMAT, GRE, or PAEP (for applicants from Mexico) test score from the previous five years, a personal statement of 300 words or more, and two reference letters. TAMIU does its own foreign transcript evaluations.

Study Plan: The Texas A&M International University online MBA in healthcare administration can be completed in just 15 months. Courses last seven weeks each. Start dates land twice each in the fall, spring, and summer. No campus visits are required.

Curriculum: The TAMIU online healthcare MBA comprises 30 credits of which 21 credits are core courses and nine credits are concentration courses. Core courses include business research methods; financial statement analysis; strategic management; financial management; managerial economics; seminar and management concepts; and seminar in marketing management.

Healthcare concentration courses include organizational behavior; transformational leadership; and healthcare informatics. Students without a business bachelor’s degree (BBA) may need to take the following prep modules: concepts in finance and economics; concepts in accounting and information systems; and concepts in management and marketing.

Online Experience: Texas A&M International University uses the Blackboard online learning management system (LMS). This system is used to deliver asynchronous courses, syllabi, class notes, grades, assignments, assessments, and online discussions. Courses are taught by multicultural faculty, providing innovative programs for a global society.

Online students have access to the Office of Information Technology for technical support Monday through Friday. Other student services include the Sue & Radcliffe Killam Library, assistance through the Office of Veterans Affairs, the TAMIU Bookstore, an online student handbook, financial aid assistance, faculty support, and career counseling through the Office of Career Services.
