Florida International University Healthcare MBA (Online or In-Person)

Florida International University (FIU) offers a CAHME-accredited Healthcare MBA (HCMBA) that can be completed in 18 months, online or in-person. The in-person Healthcare MBA offers a hybrid model of learning with a mixture of online and in-person components.

Classes meet on Saturdays and the program includes three on-campus residencies that cover topics such as healthcare economics, accounting, professional development, leadership, visual analytics with Tableau, and Lean Six Sigma Yellow and Green Belt training. The January cohort studies through the Miramar campus, while the August cohort studies at the FIU Downtown campus.

The online version of the HCMBA program includes fully online courses with the same program residencies as the in-person program; however, some of the residencies are delivered in an online format. Attendance at both virtual and in-person residencies for both programs is mandatory.

The FIU in-person and online Healthcare MBA programs are cohort-based, meaning that students move through with a group of peers, completing courses, residencies, and requirements on the same schedule. This fosters relationship building, networking, and a sense of community—even with the fully online program.

Start dates land in the fall and spring only and the cohort is limited. Courses last eight weeks each and students take two courses at a time.

Another key feature of the program is the number of certifications with which students graduate. Through program residencies students earn the following certifications:

  • Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) Healthcare Regulatory Compliance Certification
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Yellow and Green Belt certifications
  • Visual Analytics with Tableau
  • Advanced Certificate in Global Healthcare

In regards to the advanced certificate in global healthcare administration, students have the opportunity to study abroad. Through study abroad, students gain significant knowledge in global health through foreign site visits and the accompanying curriculum.

Finally, Healthcare MBA students also get a paid membership to the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) as well as professional development with the use of Business Career Management.

The FIU Healthcare MBA is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). It is one of the only programs to hold both CAHME and AACSB accreditation.

Florida International University is located in Miami, Florida, and is regionally accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
