Leaders must be prepared for a health care ecosystem that is dynamic and changing. Key topics of study focus on planning and coordination of health care services, organizational management, leadership and management roles, decision analysis of current health care organizations, financial analysis, health care technology, and organizational culture and structure.
Course delivery includes asynchronous coursework with weekly discussion boards related to the main topic(s) of the week. Students interact with faculty and peers through the discussion boards, building relationships and gaining new perspectives on health care topics and issues.
No work experience is required for applicants to the William Woods University online MHA. However, one or more years of relevant work experience in healthcare or an undergraduate degree in a health-related field is preferred. Graduates may secure advanced healthcare administration positions within hospitals, healthcare systems, nursing home facilities, rehabilitation facilities, pharmaceutical companies, and public health organizations. Job titles may include clinical administrator, operations director or manager, insurance administrator, chief executive officer (CEO), or financial manager.

What to Expect from the William Woods University Online MHA
Admission Requirements: Prospective students must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. No work experience is required; however, one or more years of relevant work experience in healthcare or an undergraduate degree in a health-related field is preferred. Application materials include an online application and fee and official transcripts.
Study Plan: The online MHA begins six times yearly in August, October, January, March, May, and June. Fall, spring, and summer semesters are broken up into three five-week classes each. The program can be completed in two years of full-time attendance, taking two courses per semester.
Curriculum: The WWU online MHA comprises 36 credits. Courses include healthcare administration; policy, legal, and ethical aspects of healthcare; healthcare systems financial management; population health management and global health; healthcare operations management; human resources in healthcare and organizational development; healthcare administration leadership and change management; healthcare marketing and consumer engagement; healthcare information management systems; healthcare strategic planning; healthcare quality management; and integrative studies in health administration.
Online Experience: William Woods University offers online courses through Brightspace, its learning management system (LMS). Asynchronous coursework includes collaborative discussion boards, readings, recorded videos, assignments, and assessments.
Online students have access to an academic success center where tutoring and writing help can be had, career services, counseling services, faith services, the Dulany Library, and online technical support.
On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site or in-person requirements for the WWU online master of health administration program.
