Southeastern Oklahoma State University offers three fully online and affordable master of science degrees focused on advancing careers in healthcare. These include the master of science program in healthcare administration, the master of science program in community health, and the master of science program in health science. Designed for students with clinical backgrounds such as occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, or nursing, each program can be completed in as few as 12 months through accelerated, seven-week courses.

The online master of science program in healthcare administration equips students with leadership and business skills essential for managing healthcare operations. With a curriculum focused on healthcare analytics, strategic planning, informatics, policy evaluation, and human resources, students learn to oversee operations from clinical, ethical, and business perspectives. Graduates are prepared for roles such as clinical managers, compliance officers, healthcare management analysts, and more.

The online master of science program in community health prepares graduates to address public health needs by identifying community issues and planning evidence-based interventions. The program emphasizes the assessment of cultural, social, institutional, and environmental health factors while promoting health equity. Graduates are qualified for roles such as community health educators, outreach coordinators, health equity specialists, and public health program managers.

The online master of science program in health science focuses on advanced leadership in healthcare with coursework covering biostatistics, epidemiology, clinical research, and healthcare operations. Admission Requirements: To apply for Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s online master’s programs in healthcare administration, community health, or health science, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university with a minimum overall 2.5 GPA. GRE or GMAT scores are not required for admission to any of the three programs. There is a non-refundable application fee for both domestic and international students. Notably, work experience in a clinical discipline is required for applicants to the MS in healthcare administration and community health programs.

For the healthcare administration and community health programs, applicants must also submit a current CV or resume and meet one of the following four sets of criteria: hold a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field with either a 2.5 overall GPA, or a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 credits; or hold a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field and have completed at least six hours in a graduate program with a 3.0 cumulative GPA; or hold a bachelor’s degree in any field with a 2.5 GPA, in addition to a current resume, a letter of intent addressing academic goals, and two letters of recommendation; or hold a bachelor’s degree in any field and have completed at least six hours in a graduate program with a 3.0 GPA, in addition to a current resume, a letter of intent, and two letters of recommendation.

For the MS in health science program, a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA is required. No additional documents are needed beyond this.

Moreover, students in the healthcare administration or community health programs may transfer up to nine credits from another graduate program.

Finally, international applicants must also submit proof of English proficiency, unless English is their first language, or they hold a degree from a U.S. college or university, or they hold a degree from an English-speaking country.

Study Plan: Designed with flexibility in mind, Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s online healthcare master’s programs allow students to start their studies multiple times a year. Courses are delivered in an accelerated 8-week format, enabling working professionals to balance career and academic commitments efficiently.

Students can choose from three convenient start dates annually. These include summer II, fall I, and fall II. Each start date is accompanied by its own set of registration, tuition, and application deadlines, giving applicants multiple opportunities throughout the year to begin their program.

Students in this program take courses such as introduction to community health; theories of health behavior; health disparities; community health education and prevention; research and grant writing for health professionals; biostatistics; community health capstone; epidemiology; healthcare policy and law; health communication; and leadership for health professionals.

In the online master’s in health science program, students build expertise in healthcare systems, policy, ethics, and communication. The curriculum includes current topics in healthcare; healthcare operations; health science capstone; health disparities; research and grant writing for health professionals; health communication; project management strategy; healthcare policy and law; leadership for health professionals; ethics in healthcare; and healthcare quality and patient safety.

Online Experience: Designed to support working professionals who are balancing academic, career, and personal responsibilities, all three programs at Southeastern Oklahoma State University are delivered entirely online with no on-campus requirements.
