Colorado State University Global (CSU Global) offers an online MHA program with over 16 specializations to tailor the degree to each professional’s career goals. Start dates land monthly, and courses last eight weeks each. The program can be completed in about two years of full-time study.

MHA outcomes focus on evaluation, analysis, critique, and prioritization related to healthcare issues. Students learn to synthesize skills such as analytical reasoning, human resource management, marketing, strategic planning, operations management, finance, information technology, and organizational leadership. Included is the study of the U.S. healthcare delivery system with its policies, laws, and unique requirements, preparing graduates for expertise in ethics, legal issues, policy management, and decision-making.

Earning an MHA degree through CSU Global equips graduates for a variety of tasks required of healthcare administrators, including managing operational costs, improving quality of care, strategic planning for healthcare organizations, interpreting budgets, maintaining patient record confidentiality and security, and remaining up-to-date on healthcare policy and regulations.

Online courses are asynchronous for maximum flexibility with message boards and group chat for faculty/peer interaction. A GPA of 3.0 or higher in undergraduate or graduate coursework is preferred.

What to Expect from the CSU Global Online Master of Healthcare Administration

Admission Requirements: CSU Global prefers an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for undergraduate or graduate coursework. Provisional admittance may be applied for if applicants do not meet the preferred GPA minimum. No work experience or GMAT/GRE test scores are required.

Applicants should speak to an enrollment counselor to choose the best path for their program. An application and fee are submitted online. Official transcripts must be sent electronically, or emailed or mailed in a sealed envelope directly from the issuing institution. Proof of English language proficiency is required for applicants who are non-native English speakers.

Study Plan: The online MHA begins once every four weeks and courses last eight weeks each. The program can be completed in two years of full-time study. CSU Global runs on a trimester system with four start dates in each. Students will follow either a burgundy or gold track depending on when they begin the program.

Curriculum: The Colorado State University Global online MHA comprises 36 credits, 24 of which are core courses, and the remaining 12 credits of which are specialization courses.

Core courses include the U.S. healthcare system; organizational behavior and human resources in healthcare; health law and ethics; quality and performance improvement in healthcare; healthcare operations management; healthcare finance; healthcare information systems; and a healthcare capstone: strategic management and healthcare.

Specialization options may include accounting; applied business management; artificial intelligence and machine learning; business intelligence; finance; fraud management; global management; human resource management; human resource performance; information technology; international management; organizational leadership and change management; organizational learning and performance; population health; project management; and strategic innovation and change management.

Online Experience: CSU Global offers online MHA courses through Canvas, its online learning management system (LMS). Asynchronous courses include discussion posts, which are typically due each Thursday, with all other assignments due by Sunday night. Courses may include videos, interactive lectures, reading materials, and mastery exercises.

Online graduate students have access to student success counselors, an online library, a career center, a writing center, tutoring services, disability and accessibility services, and technical support.

On-Site Requirements: There are no on-site requirements for the CSU Global online MHA program.
