Wake Forest University Online MHL - Master of Healthcare Leadership

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Wake Forest University (WFU) offers an online Master of Healthcare Leadership (MHL) program for working professionals, consisting of mostly online coursework and two 4-day campus residencies. The HCL degree is an accelerated, continuous 20-month program of part-time study, delivered in a cohort-based format, with a limit of 42 students per cohort.

The Healthcare Leadership program focuses on improving the delivery of quality health care and guiding transformations while preserving the sustainability of health care systems as a whole. Along with a focus on professional development, a key feature of the program is the access to affinity groups. These groups include health care experts and provide the opportunity for students to explore current and future issues in health care while at the same time exploring strategy and solutions.

Interested applicants should currently serve in professional health care roles that exhibit leadership in either a clinical or administrative capacity. Candidates may come from various realms of the health care industry including hospitals, clinics, medical centers, insurance agencies, research institutions, and non-profit organizations. Applicants must have at least five years of leadership experience, including experience in global health care.

Expectations of the program include the ability to create a culture of care in the workplace, become change leaders in areas such as finance, care quality, technology, performance, and marketing; lead discussions using strategic thinking and analysis; and collaborate with professionals within the industry to transform health care systems. Courses cover leadership skills, strategic thinking and decision-making, global health initiatives, population health, big data, and health care policy. A Capstone project is included in the program.

Graduates of MHL program are well positioned to explore leadership positions with a variety of health care and research organizations. Wake Forest University is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and offers several online master’s programs. We are located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
